From the first series of Sesame Street, this is a deligthfully philosophical song, originally sung by Kermit (indeed, this was Kermit before he really became famous), and covered by the likes of Frank Sinatra and Ray Charles. It covers a major emotional journey from frustration to acceptance in a gentle, thoughtful trajectory. What I find interesting is that by the end of the song, being green has become a wonderful way to be - but it hasn't necessarily become easy. But then, maybe it's better to have a worthwhile way to be than an easy life.
