Elbow's single, based on a line in Guy Garvey's diary, won the Ivor Novello award for Best Song in 2009. The arrangement takes the original's arpeggiated riff and spreads it out into a bell chord to capture that twin sense of precision and sound-wash. The song opens out progressively from quiet joy to unalloyed optimism, and the final chorus includes an optional-two part descant for extra lushness and delight.
